Blueberry Banana Brownies

These are by far the most delicious brownies I have ever had, Paleo or not.  Maybe its because I love bananas and they add such a distinct taste to these.  I hope you enjoy.

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit
  2. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer blend your almond butter to make it a smoother consistency
  3. Add eggs and mix well
  4. Mix in the honey and the vanilla
  5. Add the salt, baking soda, and then SLOWLY add in the cacao powder or else you will take a chocolate powder bath like I did the first time
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and the blueberries and mix well by hand to ensure an even distribution of it all
  7. Take your ripe banana and mash it to a paste and mix that in by hand as well
  8. Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish with coconut oil or whatever oil you see fit and bake for 35-40 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.
  9. Enjoy

  1. These are the only brownies I make anymore. Everyone I’ve made them for requests them again and again – I’ve been making them for years. YUM!

  2. Is there a difference if I use unsweetened cocoa powder and sweetened? I am not a baker getting better so please excuse my crazy questions! :)

    1. There is a difference. I would use the unsweetened stuff, that way you can determine the sweetness of your brownies and there is not a bunch of garbage in the unsweetened raw cocoa. Remember to go organic and fair trade!

  3. I have learned that I must make this recipe in my mini-muffin pan. A regular pan of these is a dangerous thing with my sweet tooth. I have a couple, then put the rest into the freezer. That way I have them handy, but really have to want one to thaw it. But I love these!

  4. I love these!! I’ve made them several times. About to make them again. I made them with dried cherries one time and fresh blueberries another time. Seemed like a weird concept but they are fabulous!

  5. These brownies are the sh*t. They are better than any I’ve had before easily, because they aren’t so sweet to make you feel like you shouldn’t eat them. I often eat one for breakfast and don’t really even feel guilty. The protein in the almond butter fills me up and with a green smoothie, they make the morning awesome. They are perfect.

  6. I made two batches of these with fresh blueberries a while back. Tonight I’m going to make a batch with dried cherries instead. Last time I was short on honey so I used some coconut palm sugar and they were fabulous!

  7. Wow…we loved them…I couldn’t find the blueberries so I subbed craisins with blueberry juice…I read that we can use fresh blueberries so I will definitely do that next time!!! And there WILL be a next time!!!

  8. It’s been 7 months of Paleo/primal (and some pretty mediocre baking results) but these are by far the best brownies ever! I think they’re even better than the pre-primal brownies. Thank you — love your recipes and daily psts!

  9. Made a batch last night and these were incredible. I would make them more often if Almond butter and dried blueberries weren’t so expensive. I will be trying many many more of your recipes.
